I am just striking out... Both vehicles I was looking at, the MINI Cooper, and now the Hyundai Veloster have done away with the spare tire. Issa no for me. Back to the drawing board.

Eliminating the spare to supposedly allow extra storage space &/or minimize vehicle weight is, in reality, a load of cheapskate BS. By any measure, a spare tire is mandatory for the purposes of safety & to minimize repair costs , as opposed to having your car towed just for a tire repair or having to leave it unguarded on the side of the road while being repaired....which isn't even possible when tire shops are closed. This is nothing but BS & I urge all buyers to 'insist' on a spare & a jack be included as a condition of sale (before you sign the contract). On top of all this, the manufacturers pitiful claim that the included 'tire mobility kit' will take care of your problem doesn't hold water. These new vehicles have such low profile tires that the most common roadway problem is a 'blowout'....'blowouts' caused by rupture of the tire sidewall (commonly incurred at potholes or curbs) render the tire unrepairable & the 'mobility kit' won't work on it.
